What is Reiki?
Reiki is a universal energy which people experience as a warm balancing and harmonising life force energy. It is totally natural, safe to use at all times and both nurturing and empowering.Reiki originated from Japan at the turn of the 20th century by Mikao Usui. The word Reiki (pronounced ray key) can be split into two components. Rei meaning Universal and Ki (Qi Chi) meaning life force energy. This is energy of the highest and purest form, the very essence that supports and sustains life. Utilising the methods within the Reiki System, the Reiki Practitioner transfers healing energy to another by the laying on of hands.
What can I expect to feel during a Reiki session?
On arrival I will have a brief conversation with you to discuss any concerns or requests. It is important you feel comfortable and relaxed during your reiki treatment, so I would advise you to wear loose fitting clothes. You will remain fully clothed during the treatment. I normally play soft relaxing music to assist the relaxation response.
You will lay on a padded treatment couch or if you would feel more comfortable, you can be seated. Your comfort and needs are always my main consideration.
Before the session begins, I will scan your energy field by placing my hands over your body. I will then place my hands above or lightly over your "chakras" where the energy flows through which will commence the flow of Reiki. Reiki is an intelligent energy and always goes to where it is needed most whether it is mental, physical and/or spiritual.
What you feel during a session can differ for each person, but generally, my clients feel a deep sense of relaxation and sometimes fall asleep or into a dreamlike state. This is your session, and I want you to be as comfortable as possible. When the session is over, we’ll discuss how you feel and what you experienced, if you choose to discuss it. I’ll also answer any questions that come up as a result of the session.
What can I expect during a remote Reiki session?
Remote sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions. Ahead of your session we’ll talk over the phone or virtual call. We’ll address any questions or concerns you may have, we’ll go over the information on your client form. I’ll then ask you to get a glass of water ready for after the session and find a comfortable spot to relax —couch and comfy chair. We’ll agree on a time when you’re relaxing, and I’ll send Reiki during that time. Just like during an in-person session, what happens during a remote session differs for everyone. Generally, people feel a deep sense of peace and relaxation. I’ll follow up via email or phone at a later time.
How will I feel after a Reiki session?
Every person who tries reiki has a different experience. Your experience from session to session can vary as well. Many people report feeling a sense of calm in their bodies. Others report reduced pain or a clearer mind.
